Poem Number 311
Shadowlands
how it comes to mind
whenever I'm around the line
that always makes me fall
with soft sunlight so frail hitting the mountains so bare
though my mind wonders the shadow still pevail one look and she not there
Clinging to my whims, she flees when I turn
Fading softly behind me, it's her prescence for which I yearn
To make her come forth, to make her mine
But that is the magic of the shadow kind
That turns all of us blind.
Commentary:
the shadow follows me
into the dark region of my mind
and escapes unscathed
untraced
by the world

Once upon a time, this was a fantastic site...I posted my poetry here most of my sophomore and junior years of high school and received lots of positive commentary that was useful to me in my writing. This poem is by far the best one I have read yet on this site...I wish more people would stop being so concerned with rhyming and get back into free verse where there's room for more feeling and expression...~Michelle~
