Poem Number 288
Mirror-ed
Commentary:
So I fell into my looking glass.
The surface like a lake.
Upon a whim, i reached within,
expecting shards to break.
Now i see as ne'er before.
As now i see myself,
and my world, my universe
as a toy upon a shelf.
The air, its thicker here, it's true.
More condensed than home.
But caught behind the silver
I found a wider place to roam.
The senses are less sharp here,
less black and white, more gray.
Your yes to no, my wrong to right,
are simply shades along the way.
The palor of my skin is matched
by the waning of the sun.
And the stars in here have yet to fear
as by dawn they haven't run.
It is mountains since I came.
And it is valleys till I leave.
And i'm content to carry on-
this truer air to breathe.
