Poem Number 573
Hanging like a trapeze with the greatest of ease
Jarjabel meandered amongst the branches of the trees
With a canopied glare he'd menace and stare
A gruff growl under his breath he would throw anywhere
The dumb and the blind need pay him no mind
They underminded him and all of his lackadaisical kind
But those with sight gave him bushels of spite
And with their directed discontent, at the air he would bite
Then one noon there sauntered by a man with a basoon
Which made Jarjabel sound out like a shipwrecked loon
Mad as a corn cracker he threw loud shouts at the jacker
Whacking the trees with a breeze, he threw his last cracker
Being no sucker, the man disengaged the bassoon from his pucker
Picked up a rock-sized rock and threw it at the mother chucker
Like a poo-pile attracting a fly, the rock went straight for the eye
Attached itself for a brief moment with a thud to the socket and guy
Bleeding out the socket like a stream of spark fire from a rocket
That heart of his noticed the lack of blood flow and threw a sprocket
Seizing up like a shimmy and then BOING! stiff as a Jimmy
