Poem Number 564
The shiny papers of the magazine hidden under the young man's bed
displaying ads for x-ray glasses and umbrella disguised machine guns
carefully and with exactification he filled out the order form with ink
for five proofs-of-purchase only, a bounty of joy in heaps and in tons
he began to see the beauty in his head and mailed the form in a blink
while visions of secret decoder rings and pirate knives danced in his head
he stabbed a fake sword at his sister while she lay asleep in his bed
the next morning he arose with a jolt and a skip like a hugry flea
