Poem Number 161
Into The Lion's Den I Ride---by je

Commentary:
Into the lion's den I ride
first pause a moment to decide
which is the best way to proceed
to effectively complete the deed.
-
Initial instance of the charge
in retrospect may loom quite large.
A brilliant stroke of strategy
or tatamount to tragedy?
-
Hindsight being, as they say,
the view on a clear, cloudless day,
sometimes a difficult recall
that there was little light at all.
-
Guiding my hesitant first stride
into these depths from the outside.
Required to just take some action
then face the fallout of reaction.
-
Truly a test, a trial by fire,
consequences can be dire,
awarding words a wicked weight
mere moment meet and make your fate.
