Poem Number 282
Creed
Race, religion or
REGARDLESS
whether or not
with faith and life and birth right
stand beside the night and whim the day
diverse cult of yellow, red and blue-white
faith in the form of follwers freed
a brotherhood of man smiling always with a grimace
chants of solitude with several abroad
the night say to all you are lost
in this poem and in this line
we stand together-
so not devine
creed freed by greed and nver the want to need

Commentary:
The way I read this, I'll say with another--I know not what course
others may choose---but as for me--GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH.
