Poem Number 305
Come with me my charming child so fair,
for time has passed so swiftly form youth to silver hair,
to the place of many colors, the place I do love
into the autumn forest up in the hills above.
Come run with me across the crimson leaves in the cool air,
and reach our arms within the robe of tumbled ware,
fill up the sky with red and amber leaves,
and watch them dift away upon the autumn breeze.
Oh, come with me my daugher's little daughter,
come play with me, in the leaves, in natures parlor.
For I remember when your mother as well was small,
and I took her into the hills one cold and frosty fall.
But now what drew her there has sadly gone away,
but grandpa knew, as grandpas do, there would be another day.
Now time has passed, as time it does, and God he gave us you,
so come with me, so happy babe, to do which I've longed to do.
