Poem Number 1146
Four years, and i knew your voice
the instant i heard it.
The odds are mine to beat,
as i break from a fortress of snow.
Your love still clings to the air
between hummed words.
How lucky
to trade one ice for another.
A slight chill over such coincidence
plotted in heaven for our discovery.
Our Betty Ford B&B,
Our redemption, rehab and recovery,
Have i ever told you how i love when
that twist of dark hair hangs in the sweat
of your cleavage?
You heard it after the evening news noise
before the Angelus on
pine plank floors.
And i so pious could not even see
this obvious menu.
of ripe cheese and a peach
the fried plantain arranged
along a curve of porceline plate
but then, how could i,
my diet being dry wafers
and watered wine
my eyes drinking the lives of saints
planted perfectely and forever
in planks of pine.
as easily as cheese, my cake
as easily as that
levitation trick in the cloister
your reveverberation a hymn
Commentary:
'reveverberation'...oops! i'm stuttering again :-) -M
