Poem Number 1128
May 2005
and 5,000 miles away
given the difference
a day so green and luscious
sets the backdrop
for resuscitating a memory
that glistens with the crystal
sheen and sway of dew
beads on the jade
i'd love to be
raucous as victory after the war
in jungles so tangled
the heart pulsates
obsessional
confessing crimes
i bare no light on
living in the shadow
of a fluttering lash
if the world was pink
lip cut by glass
a necklace of emeralds
left in the palms
of hand or tree
20 years is nothing
spent up to the knees
in mud, you see
jewels for breakfast
and hay for warmth
as the rain drops turn to ash
is your name Claire
as i remember
"...on a night 'O' so tender..."
