Poem Number 1124
water is as light as air
stay on the ground
in this unpredictable paradise
news merely meant to swat flies
trade your paycheque for chocolate
never wear shoes
your bus pass works
on all the airlines
and nobody
cares if you nap
when you should be mowing the lawn
or yanking weeds
how beautiful things seem
when they dangle from your soul
moths hang from the web inside the eye
shades over hills of musical pleasure
tune into space left behind walls
as screaching peace revolves around you
cling to an arm as breezes spread confusion
a drizzle of regret and plenty of money
days are hand-shaped, made endless for your love
of sugary thoughts
out of sleep preferably
before the morning boost
and tigers lolling at the foot of the bed
alert for croissants
and perhaps a stray lamb or two
everything is picture-perfect
and it all fits into a book
from daybreak to sultry hours
a title as simple as 'Voila!'
do you read
tea leaves
No the earth silently replied
it's over
sleep on the compost pile
and breathe its earthy scent
reflect
then project a darker shadow
to the level-headed one
oh careless love
slow dance some clouds down to lift me like Christmas morning
oh you pastavazool pick yourself up by your own bootstraps and read the news crawl sieze the day and forget the vultures; spread your eaglewings singing hope with two feet on the ground.
VOILA!
