Poem Number 701
Four
Four people walking away
Four people coming to stay

Commentary:
Put flowers on the grave
of a long time friend today
He died last week
I was the last person to
see him alive
Athough I do believe he had
spoken to his sister
The fact remains he is gone
and I will miss him
He was a soldier in the Navy
in the second world war
Married his sweetheart when
his tour was over
They lived together in a house
on a quiet street
They never had any children of
their own
They were in love with each other
and that was enough.
When I first met this man
I was a drunk and a druggie
Yet
he never judged me
He treated me with respect
He gave me chances
let me stumble and fall
allowed me the freedom to find
my own way.
I loved this man.
I will miss him
I will not forget.
