Poem Number 975
dressed in my black Sunday suit
contrasted against my cream puff face
I'm alone one final time
in this my final resting place
free from the torment of life
free from the cheats and lies
free from the hurt and pain
free from the wind and rain
free to journey to a place unknown
to enter the void of eternity
and maybe, just maybe
learn why what has been, had to be
funny though--
I can still feel
taste and smell
this surely can't be heaven
and I don't think its hell
I'm thinking like I always have
"hey its me, I'm here"
familiar emotions quickly return
panic, rejection and fear.
