Poem Number 938
Commentary:
The brook sings softly to itself
As it laughingly plays across the rocks
a small trout hides under a rock shelf
waiting for a worm to come floating by
a little boy sits with a cane pole and a string
listing to the bullfrog croaking on a Lilly pad near by
Just a sitting and a wishing he could catch any thing
Watching with interest as a butterfly flutters by on the air
His faithful dog lying under the tree in the shade
watching his master sitting on an old stump swinging his feet
In the top of the tree two squirrels chattered as they played
As warm afternoon sun beat down on the boys old straw hat
Suddenly his dog growled and then let out a bark
The boy turned and laughed, a worm was trying to escape the can
Its Okay boy, it is time to go home its starting to get dark
we will get him tomorrow, he picked up his pole and started home
