Poem Number 1103
Scary tunnel
only filters shards of light-cutting walls that burn in darkness
I remember snowflakes
falling from the black sky.
The way they hit my face i'll never forget
they where cold and wet
reincarnating memories of a former life. Here I am again!
Commentary:
TITLE: Not Alone
Scary tunnel
I trek this station in a party of one
No satellite beacon no searchlight
Only a whisper now only my wits
"Drink this save some for later" scarce resource
A sometimes wellspring of nurturing water
In this tunnel burbling forth
Borne onwards in a broken vessel
Coming up from the wellpath a young woman appears
Here comes a maiden Jesus is she mine?
From the bible a mindful verse of encouragement
A broken vessel sloshes living water
Water, not spilt, carries transfers glitters
Whispers "you are not alone"
And yet aghast I have this dreary weary me-only bathroom
I will cry tears my mirror respects standing on shards of cat-litter
I will respect the tears my mirror cries back
I am not alone
Like my bathroom pictured in the glossy pages of an
ARCHITECTURE NOW magazine
This image of me . . . is not alone
Just very very moist
