Poem Number 7471
Half-Live
________________________
For years before we gain wisdom
we do only half-live.
Told by older and so deemed wiser elders "these are the best years of your life".
...........time ticking.......tic....tic....tick....
Half-Life arrives sooner for some burdened by regrets;
not reaching our youthful imaginations..............
"I'm going to sky-dive!" "I'm going to be on that endless highway from west to east and back again and camp in the deserts"
"I'm going to live and love without rules" "I'm going to drive over 120mph on the freeway at night alone"
"I'm going to be onstage on open mike night and rock or give the poet reading better than all of the beat generation could ever ...."
I'm going to go out of this world like Leary or better yet, Cobain!"
The experience of the youthful rebellion to become more alive before being old and only having "safe" memories,
are most needful for a life that becomes cut short.
Death seems to have no certain timing for any of human beings.
Live and do the things you want! Who cares after that moment you become something more incredible than even your wildest imaginations!
Believe this: those left to remember you, remember those moments you lived life to the fullest!
(albeit with a bit of envy) Laugh, it's just like you... isn't it?
