Poem Number 575
The Bitter Sweet Days of October

Commentary:
In the bitter sweet days of October,
When the winter winds threatened to blow,
I fell in love with a maiden,
The sweetest one I'll ever know,
The sweetest one I'll ever know.
.
All thru the winter we courted.
I wooed her and gave her my heart.
She vowed to love me forever
But, somehow, we drifted apart.
Somehow we drifted apart.
.
In the bitter sweet days of October,
When the winter winds threaten to blow,
I always think of that maiden,
The sweetest one I'll ever know,
The sweetest one I'll ever know.
.
(instrumental break)
.
In the bitter sweet days of October,
In the Autumn of life I recall,
The roads that I've travelled,
The places I've been,
And that sweetest mem'ry of all,
That sweetedt mem'ry of all.
The roads that I've travelled
The people I've known,
And that sweetest mem'ry of all,
That sweetest mem'ry of all
.
