Poem Number 571
Tonight the moon shines bright
My dark heart needs its light
For, as much as I long for you to stay,
Our love can never see the light of day.
Dismantle life, unwind it.
We'll take love where we find it.
And never hide behind it.
Let tears fall where they may.
Tho we may weep tomorrow
And bow our heads in sorrow,
Just for tonight we'll borrow
A lovers role to play.
Then, you'll be gone at dawning
The cruel cold light of morning
Will prove love died aborning
Somewhere along the way.

Commentary:
Tonight the moon shines bright

And, tho it isn't right,
I long for you to stay.

Dismantle life, unwind it,
We'll take love where we find it,
And, never hide behind it,
Let tears fall where they may.

Tho we may weep tomorrow,
And bow our heads in sorrow,
Just for tonight we'll borrow
A lover's role to play.

Then, you'll be gone at dawning,
The cruel, cold light of morning
Will prove love died aborning
Somewhere along the way.
