Poem Number 569
The Way of Life My Father Taught to Me
Was a lot more simple

Commentary:
This is a bluegrass song:

When I first travelled on
From the place where I was born
And the way of life my father taught to me,
I left my home so dear
There were songs I had to hear
And a world outside my door
I had to see.

And, Oh, that road looked straight and narrow.
I was looking for a road more bold and free.
That's what I had to find
And, so I left behind
The way of life my father taught to me.

Many years have past
And I'm heading home at last
Back to the place I left so long ago.
To the misty country morn
And robins on the lawn
And my Father waiting there for me I know.

And, Oh, the road's been long and weary
And I'm longing for the way things used to be.
I've been too long away
So I'm heading home today
To the way of life my Father taught to me.

What key is it in ?

I think it's "c". Some days I can sing higher than others. Then I use a capo and move it up a few frets.
