Poem Number 554
It's Your Turn to Sing the Blues
Commentary:
I just dropped by to tell you
I'm leaving here today.
I thought you ought to know, Dear,
I'm really on my way,
And if you'll look real close,
I've got on my walking shoes.
Won't do you any good to cry.
It's your turn to sing the blues.
.
You fooled me for a while, Dear,
When you gave me your old line.
You fooled me once too often,
Now, your Daddy done seen the sign.
Mv eyes are open, now,
I really get the clues.
Won't do you any good to cry,
It's your turn to sing to blues.
.
I caught you dealling aces
From the bottom of the deck,
And, so I'm on my way, Dear,
And I won't be looking back.
You took away my pride.
There's nothing else to lose.
Won't do you any good to cry.
It's your turn to sing the blues.
