Poem Number 1024
Hurricane rising
Tempestuous winds blow fierce
Tearing at the earth
~~~
Seas raging forward
Boats tossed like cardboard boxes
resting in back yards
Commentary:
Alice, and 39, this double Haiku is excellent in images. The alliteration lends
power to the images. Too true. Too sad. Lida Jo from Idaho
Thanks, Classic! How kind. We've had The Fire and The Fall. It sounds like
something out of Genesis but actually we had a small house fire and when we got
back in the house I fell down. We had extensive smoke damage so everything
including the 'puter had to be cleaned. I was without a computer weeks and we spent
most of the next six weeks at my husband's brother's house. The Fall should get me
lots of sympathy, Classic, but it won't. I caught my big toe in my pants leg and
knocked myself down! So get up off the floor and quit that laughing!!!!
The Fire should have gotten me lots of sympathy but it didn't either. The insurance
examiner came into our blackened kitchen to find a sign on the wall that had been a
gift from one of my children. It read, "Only cowards cook on low." I was surprised they
paid. The fall really was damageing, all kidding aside and I had a slight concussion, a bruised
kidney and a broken tailbone. But I am only shorter when I sit down.
Alice, this is a wonderful poem. I can't say it too many times. Lida Jo
Thank you Lida Jo for your kind remarks.. I come from a place in the North of Western Australia where cyclones are a regular summer occurance.. the above poem is very close to what happens several times a year up there..
take care..Alice..
Lida Jo you have been in our thought and prayers. Pray you will soon be
well and sparkling on the keyboard again. We sure missed your friendly
words.--GrandmaThing(Younger Twin)--May you know love.!!!Another cook who
hates to waste time on low.
Alice::Since Bret has been much in the news it easy to understand your
writing this with our friend Classic 39(who had a birthday, Lida Jo)
Very descriptive!--GrandmaThing--May you know love.
TT (that's for Twin Thister : ) ), thank you for your concern and love. I
appreciate it more than you know. And thank you for empathy - it REALLY means
a lot. LJ
