"Mother, look what I
caught, isn't he cute?" Ugh!! No!
Little black snake, jarred.
Commentary:
This wasn't years ago-it was today. Yucky things (creatures) attract
my 22. She petted the python at the fair.

my shoebox treasures.............zendo
my mom had 4 boys and we lived near woods and a pond. i know we brought home every conceivable creature to show her and try and keep.no wonder she went gray in her 40's. thanks for the memory

what didnt we bring home as lads, injured animals of all kinds,uninjured ones too slow to escape our grasp
I,too, am one of four boys and mom always said her house was a zoo, even when we had no pets around!!.39

LOL! and mine Still says that on holidays when we are all there.....so true 39.........zendo

She brings me a toad,
Cuddling its unlovely form.
It pees in her hand.
(for my daughter, now 18 - RAS. When she was little, I'd bring her to a vernal pool
near the house and show her how to catch frogs... bring your hand upon them
S L O W L Y, then allofasuddenmakealunge... and she caught one on her
first attempt. She was so surprised she screamed, dropped it, & almost fell in...)

oh man!!......lol....my nana used to tell me id get warts if a toad peed in my hand...ofcourse i caught them anyway and spent the next week or so watching for warts to appear......and ive seen children do just what you described RAS..its a memory you never lose...........zendo

I still love all those sort of critters. Snakes have fascinated me since I was about eight or so and got to pet a boa constrictor at some natural history museum. That was cool.
