Poem Number 1871
the day is dead
all alone at my desk
why am I here?

Commentary:
you are here
writing some haiku
now go home
what is this?
I speak to myself
am I nuts?
I'm crazy
late at work writing
dumb haikus
God help me
I believe I'm stuck
haiku loops
this haiku
rhythm keeps turning
mobius
in dawn light
they may find me here
exhausted
I must stop
it takes willpower
post and leave
-------
I went home
later I returned
more haiku
save me please
protect me from this
obsession
dinner's ready
hungry, time to eat
freed by greed
-------
morning now
I'm at it again
goddammit
hopelessly
I try to stop it
haiku hell
gotta go
time for my commute
drive to work
-------
five fifteen
at my fucking desk
i'm still here
what is this?
my haiku time-out?
three five three
understand
i'm not obsessive
usually
it's just that
i think it's funny
and can't stop
oh, doctor?
please prescribe something
say, prozac?
would it help
this strange compulsion
to haiku?
suicide?
is that your advice?
kill myself?
what of your
hippocratic oath?
means nothing?

-------
physician
says heal thyself
so I do
