Poem Number 1921
Dead leaves on the lawn
Remnants of Spring's sweet promise
Like an old man's dreams
..........
Corpse in the gutter
Remnant of last night's party
Like peppered jerky
.............................................
Haiku likes you too
So entreat her with your heart
True secret keeper

BR, the first three lines are a wonderfully crafted Haiku. It speaks to the heart and blesses. Poignant, succinct, a sculpted poem.

Anonymous, your three lines, while making a macabre echo of BR's poem, is strong enough to stand by itself. I wish it had been posted 08separately. "Like peppered jerky" is an enviable phrase.

You feel, in a dream,
The touch of a lover's hand
Sweet times remembered

A lover's hand still touching
You remember it's mother
