Poem Number 2072
Who's the shining man
who stood by young Mert's sickbed?
Dreams don't give real light.

Commentary:
If Lida Jo from Idaho ever comes by -- here's a Marysville item for you, if you recall Mother Nature's Window. Its owner, Merton Turk, can tell you many an interesting story. When he was a boy, and bedbound with some childhood fever, he was awakened one night by a bright light at the foot of his bed with a tall figure standing in it. The figure's silhouette had a large head, a thin neck, and then went straight down from shoulders to floor. Naturally, when Mert saw this, he reckoned he was seeing things. But he thought he'd better check, and looking around he noticed some tinkertoys and marbles and such on the floor. Counted them, looked at their arrangement; and he swears that when he woke in the morning they were there, exactly as he had seen them by this unearthly light in the wee hours. So this ku is for him. --eritain

Eritain, I'm glad you gave me the novel that your Haiku breathed about. I wanted the longer story!! Oh, Eritain, it is so good to see your good name again. I've been gone so long what with moves and computer crashes and illnesses and funerals seems like every week. But I come here tonight and find such notes. Can you even imagine how it makes me feel? I am whelmed!! I loved this even before I read your comment. Thank you, dear one. Lida Jo now from Union, O.
