I read on a message board that the significance of this day is the end of the Camp David Peace Treaty signed September 11, 1978 by President Carter. This treaty dealt with peace in Israel and surrounding countries.

L7, Yes there are differences. Pearl Harbor was an attack by armed forces of a recogized nation, against our armed forces, but a lot of innocent civilians lost their lives there, too. Today was, in the words of a European Union spokesman, "an act of war by madmen", and the civilian toll will be staggering. But the comparison is inescapable, and accurately or not, this will be remembered as the second Pearl Harbor. Appropriately enough, after Pearl Harbor, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the architect of the attack, told his subordinates: "I fear that all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve". Stay tuned, folks. The next few months are not going to be pretty.

It has to be full, Q, or none of us is really safe again. By the way, it turns out (according to MSNBC yesterday) that the Nostradamus quotes are bogus. The attacks stand as the worst terrorist assaults in history, and somebody had to try to make it worse by inventing those quotes? People are amazing........bkay

Amen, it does have to be full, bkay. I was just wondering if it would be... would hate to see bin laden turned over to us so we can put him in an American prison for 10 years playing basketball and planning his next assault on Americans, while the terrorists use his imprisonment as a reason for the next attack (release bin laden or else...) only to give him a peaceful death via the shotgiver. But I guess we had to give Afganistan the chance to turn him over, didn't we? Turns out there are several bogus stories going around. I will include a web address when I find it. It's interesting. Talk about trying to make things worse, we had a couple arrested this week collecting money for the Red Cross outside of a shopping mall. The problem is, the Red Cross they were collecting for was their own drug habit. Amazing...~Q~
