Poem Number 3970
I have seen God's face
In the clouds and setting sun
But never in church.
......bkay
Commentary:
ah......yes. Too busy looking at one another to see God. ~Q~
-------
Try a different church!
They are NOT all the same. I tried many before finding one with an abundance of Spirit, keep looking!...James.
-------
I have found my church, and it's called wilderness....bkay

amen, bkay............RAS, a fellow parishoner

the church walls
block one's view of the
face of god......................(IMHO).......RAS

...which is not to impugn those who find spiritual satisfaction within said walls - I speak only for myself......RAS

Not necessarily. Walls can be canyon walls, cliffs, a tree line, the thunderstorm coming over the horizon, the raging creek you probably shouldn't try to cross, but will anyway. God can be IN the walls, too, except the walls we build to keep him out, or to lock him in. Or, is it her?

Sorry, that was me....bkay

IF you seek Gods love
No church walls can block His face
A closed heart opens not...James.
-------
for you to know God
you must try to learn of love
because God is love
-------
I'll buy that!--GrandmaThing--May you know love!(so now you know)

bkay,
I must agree with your verse. Well written. To many times I have found
God faster outside the walls of Church. Each person must find him in their
own way. I only pray once found that we don't try to force our finding on
others for way to many people have lost their lives in the name of God and
that is appalling. Love to all in their individual searchs.

I truly believe there is a God - whether in the conventional form or not - but I've never understood organzied religion. It's very hypocritical in my eyes. Basically, what it's all trying to say is, God made us all equal, but I'm a Christian, or Jewish, or whatever, so I'm better than you. It's not supposed to be that way.

This is beautiful and direct, I like the way this whispers metaphors for other possible meanings.
