Poem Number 3387
Lace and pearl
lyre-bird's train in the
azure mist

Commentary:
Alice::What are lyre-birds? Brash little thieves? --GrandmaThing--Know love.

sounds like it doesn't it GT... but no, they unusual birds..Most unusual Australian bird. The male's tail has large spreading feathers.. Two broad feathers curve upward with slender feathers inbetween. When the tail is raised it's about 2ft long. The male does an amazing dance with it's feathers, curving them right over his head... They are only the size of a chicken..has brown plummage and sings very melodiously.. it can also mimic other birds with great accuracy..prefers to run and leap although it can fly.....alice the longwinded :))
-------
Thanks for the definition. I thought they were akin to the myna bird....m4r
