the poem number is 1066, the battle of Hastings took place in the year 1066 CE. doh! on the other hand, it isn't outside the realm of reason that I might have met someone at a Hastings music/bookstore, a chain of such in the Arkansas/Texas area. Or maybe, just maybe, I like early fruit.

what sort of nOOb goes around knowing the date of the Battle of Hastings? and then thinks everyone who doesn't know.. that being 99.99999999999999999999999 per cent of the people in the world, are stupid?

i was only answering a question. I didn't expect everyone to know it and I wasn't implying anyone was stupid for not knowing it. Most likely we all learned it and forgot it the moment the pop quiz was over back in 4th grade. I was counting on only a few remembering it but then even if you didn't it wouldn't matter in a SURREal poem because the next person is going to play off what it means to them. Maybe the next author had once had a girlfriend named Hastings and my mention had conjured up an image of her in his or her mind. As for being a nOOb, I am new to this particular board but not to either poetry or Exquistite Corpses.
