a vision of the past
stopped the beating of my heart
with the simple sound of your voice

buried memories
barely existing in a future
so carefully constructed
built out of sticks and stones
and broken bones

but underneath my skin
a rumbling
of what once was
shakes the very foundation
of what is now
and what is not
.
you may never know
the leaps and bounds that brought me here
or the pain of bringing me back
to the pensive meditations
of agonies
too close to the surface for comfort
