Poem Number 873
the jack bradshaw rule
Commentary:
i don't know who that is, jack bradshaw. i don't even know if that's the right name. it sounds right.
the jack bradshaw rule is that bathrooms are single-occupancy places. you don't do your business in front of your spouse or significant other. in addition, you don't burp or fart or (in some cases) swear in front of each other. you don't let each other in on grooming rituals-- you simply emerge from the bathroom or your boudoir looking fabulous.
he never sees you pluck your eyebrows; you never see him trim his nose hairs. he never knows what your natural haircolor is. he just knows he likes it. you never see dirt under his fingernails during dinner. more importantly, you never see him digging it out.
the jack bradshaw rule. it's about respect for privacy and maintaining private rituals. keep bathrooms off-limits. maintain private spaces and don't pee in front of your significant other if you can help it.
