if you won't change now, there is no future - nothing "platitudey" about that - my fear of the future is that it will be exactly like now, and yes it sucks and it's not easy to change "now" but - there's no other time available to work with...

i understand that - i'm talking about global things I can't change in a big enough way (i.e. positively impact) to avert, like say:
- global warming
- international terrorism
- global liquidity crisis
- etc
