Poem Number 322
Footwork
Commentary:
I was having this dream where we were dancing among a vivid rain of autumn leaves.
An impossible sky smiled overhead, spreading his arms in an embrace of the world, his face reflected in the mirror of a silver dance floor beneath our feet.
Amethyst trees stretched their branches, slowly spreading their Technicolor fingers as they bled languorously from the deepest purple into the enchantment of a liquid lapis blue, running across the impossible sky in a watercolor infusion of sensual serenity.
We twirled off of our blue sky mirror onto the rich frosted crown of a devil’s food cake, frosting sucking sweet mud at our shoes, and fell together laughing into the sticky sweet petals of a sugar rose, giggling in each others arms like children of spring.
We peered over the pouting lip of a rose petal, as a schooner of glass raised its gossamer sails into a wind that smelled of raspberries, its rigging spun from the spinnerets of a noble crew of golden spiders.
The sea was a white dream of cool, creamy milk. Neapolitan islands dotted the horizon. Holding hands, and covered in chocolate frosting, we jumped from towering chocolate cliffs into the sea, trailing our clothes behind us.
We swam together in a froth of vanilla surf, catching perfect waves upon the backs of tuxedoed surfing penguins.
I shook the sea from my hair, as I watched you walk from the sea onto a beach of soft ruby sand, creamy milk cascading from your shoulders, sparkling smooth upon your skin.
Aroused, I eagerly followed..
