Poem Number 8978
Born under the sign of the Twins..Gemini,
she lived a life of almost a dual personality,
one day spewing caustic barbs,
the next full of laughter and love,
this sender of mixed messages.
A woman with brains and uncanny intuition,
had a way with children that weren't her own,
displaying patience and humor as in her classrom.
Twenty five years since her death
has given time to put the puzzle together,
but growing child only feels the barb's sting.
Mature reasoning later, can't fully errode
those latent scars....but I loved her,
as down deep I know she loved me.
She said so before she died,
as I stood in a uniform she was so proud
to see me wear, taking care of this
woman who gave me life.
Oh, my children, talk with me now,
before my time has come.
This unfinished business hurts like hell.

Commentary:
It is never too late to open the door of communication--keep trying--your children will bless you later!! This is poignant--and so true--thanks. JFC
-------
Sad story, but so very common between parents and their children. Who knows the strain or exhaustion she felt in her life; we all have our personal secrets and woes. And, unfortunately, we tend to express our frustrations on the ones we love the most. It sounds like you have risen above your painful memories! -pen:)
-------
Yes, Pen-it takes maturity to realize what a parent goes through in different stages of life and it takes having your own children to feel some of the worries that come along. This woman was the life of the party and had many friends, but she was insecure in many ways that I now realize. We don't share enough with our children, as thay get older, some of our concerns. I do and envy the wonderful relationship my daughters and I have. Sakel

BTW- JFC, thanks for your response. I guess it speaks the truth for many people. Sakel

Touches a nerve in it's truth..somedays I see my Father in my mirror and think we have become alike..then I try to love the dead again..Jake

A touching poem, and extremely well written. GREAT WORK. ALLY.
-------
touches a number of nerves,..and sparks creation. the person we see in the mirror should be ourselves.
-------
Part of maturity is realizing that we may not make the same mistakes as our parents, indeed shun those like the plague, but we WILL make our own mistakes, mistakes that will, intentional or not, hurt others and that they may resent us for. No one is perfect in this ever changing circle of life. Wonderful Poem. "Sadness"
-------
Recognition of mistakes, wrongs, and resentments - many accomplish. Discontinuing them - sign of learning and ultimate change.
-------
I ahd a feeling this theme could be other's agenda. Thank you all for your response and jake-"learn to love the dead again", yes, yes! Sakel

trivia - approx. 2000 yrs ago each zodiac sign was named of the constellation that occupied its position in the imaginary belt of travel of the planets and moon. Sice then, the position of earth's axis has changed, and positions moved westward about one full division, so zodiac signs assumed today 'applied' to those who lived at the time, and do not 'apply' today, when last checked. - trivia - sometimes there's a point to learning about what's dead, and sometimes it doesn't appear there's any need to.

Goosebumps... THIS, my friend, is poetry. CasW
