Poem Number 8966
heat, shirt sticking back of my neck
the dust of war all over, stuck to me, choking me
can't swallow this war dirt
wash away poison, my sweat, blood, body vomit
we scramble in the dirt, head down
hush the gravel, damn! damn!
i want to wash out my eyes, all the dirt blood metal twisted shrapnel
i want to see clear
sleeping, demons out of every corner
jolting me like dirty stab wounds
shaking, sweating, panting
i want to go home and forget i ever lived through this death, war
dream away evil, renew my dead senses
i want to taste life all over me
Commentary:
ms = Interesting lines. I presume it is symbolic; that there is no real war? = Leona
