I can hear the music far away
The haunting sound of Bag Pipes
The swishing of the Tartans
accompanying the rhythm of their march
The band comes closer,up over the hill
passing McPherson's farm over looking the loch
The plaintive music announces a funeral in the glen

Ah, Scotland! The basic concept, a funeral, is not apparent until actually announced in the last line. Would like to see you rewrite this poem so that the reader senses that it is a funeral without any announcement of confirmation. Reach deep inside yourself for the words and phrases; feel the moment and then write about it! .....The Poetry Professor

Dear Poetry Professor- Thanks for your critiques on this page.I like surprises--setting a scene very simply and bingo, letting the reader know what the scene was set for.Just my quirk I guess. Of course there are many,many more.Those 4 came to mind as I was writing. Many more in this room itself. It has to be someone who is accomplished in good poetry and has a sense of humor.It could be many in this room. Did I forget to mention your name? AHA you're the Professor!lolJ.
