Poem Number 23331
A crosstime collaboration between Emily Dickinson and Myself
Commentary:
s if some little Arctic flower,
Upon the polar hem,
Went wandering down the latitudes,
Until it puzzled came
To continents of summer,
To firmaments of sun,
To strange bright crowds of flowers,
And birds of foreign tounge!
I say if this little flower
To Eden wandered in-
What then?
Where early spring flowers
relate root, petal and stem;
Arctic leaves spread and sap, inflames;
to poison bugs and worms,
to block the sun and smother trees
to spread fire up its vines,
'till a deathly sword of flame arises,
to warn the beasts, here things are wild!

I hope you like this; the first half is Emily if it's not obvious. The second half I wrote the last line originally was, "Why nothing only your inference therefrom." So, that's what I used for permission, for this collaboration. I think this violates most of the rules of thumb for borrowing lines from others. I hope you like it. ~John E. Cook
