Poem Number 23307
You Are?
"How are you?" said the man
I was sick and hid my cough.
If I said "fine" it's a lie.
If I said "awful" it's pitiful.
I'd have to explain why I'm
Depressing everyone I meet.
I like Halloween much better.
They just ask "what are you?"
Commentary:
I thougt I'd visit the website after a long absence. I'm pleased to see it flourishing with good poetry from some of the old timers I recognize. I was busy writing and publishing my first novel titled "Dragula". I was surprised to see it get 4 stars on Amazon's Reader Review. Feel free to add or comment (no swear words!) on the above poem. Thanks. Ben Sheldon

i love the point you make so succinctly here. *grace

I'm certain most everyone has been in those shoes. The reply, almost always, "I'm fine. How about you?". Meanwhile, the thought is "I wished you'd have asked me on a different day so I could have said it with a bit more enthusiasm" ;)
