A Poem for My Son

Commentary:
Rest, my son, and go to sleep;
The sun has set and it is night.
Reach for the dreams that whirl and leap
In silver moonbeams cool and bright.
~
The sun has set and it is night,
A mother's vigil I will keep.
In silver moonbeams cool and bright,
You can rest and safely sleep.
~
A mother's vigil I will keep,
Until we greet the morning light.
You can rest and safely sleep,
Dreaming of your heart's delight.
~
Until we greet the morning light
My little one, have slumber deep
Dreaming of your heart's delight,
A nighttime harvest sweet to reap.
~
My little one, have slumber deep.
Reach for the dreams that whirl and leap-
A nighttime harvest sweet to reap.
Rest, my son, and go to sleep.
