Poem Number 23122
Ballroom

She is in beautiful sparkling dress;
he wears a dazzling designer suit
They sway and waltz as though Siamese twins
that refuse to be separated
Then they move on to fox trot, quick step
and Latin American dances
like rumba and tango; oh that tango
They bend in unison, touch cheeks for one
brief second, then instantly turn their heads
in opposite directions in exact tempo
of the dance tune and stacato moves
A painter projects his art onto
still silent and dead canvas
Ballroom dancers are artist with
no canvas, in fleeting dynamic art

Commentary:
A nice image. May I suggest "like" in place of "as though" in line 3.

Thank you, sg. Good suggestion = Ben

This could move into an even greater category of brilliant visual if you would give the poem flow and beat as the music it describes! Poetic form is not outdated, it gives a poem its dance and beat.

Lines 12/13: true enough however, an artist working with video camera could capture the motion sufficiently to record the dance for all time.
But then it would cease to be dynamic as in fleeting (line 15). rap

JLang, flow and beat for this type of poem is an excellent idea. Rap, your comment is interesting, reminding me of Degas and how he captured the dancers on canvas = Ben
