Poem Number 23106
too close for dreams
Commentary:
i knew a man who gave up everything to lie on the bank of night,
to have briefly the stars shine through him.
the night threw down its black blanket and he rose in it
like city lights pushing back the darkness.
`
burning so strongly on his own end,
he chose this over the sun
which was too close for dreams.
