Poem Number 23089
I had to get over you
Commentary:
Well remember when we discussed how it was
love at first sight, and you ummm'ed and I laughed
when I love you came without words and we were
studying in the library so you would be bonified true
to put out fires?
I had to get over the way our hands first touched,
palm on palm, fingetips touching brown skin
you shy, me amused, the kiss on cheek...
I 'member when I was telling you to pay attention
and you kept on saying wow and laughing
and I was upset and amused and smiling and frustrated
and finally I asked you, what?
and you said, you're so pretty...
but because you took your 'I love you' back
telling me you were only going to say it with actions (lame)
not words
i had to get over you.
and i don't walk backwards, kid
too easy to trip
much too easy to fall...

I didn't mean to leave off my initials on my comment of the previous love poem. I like this one too. I love the lines "and I don't walk backwards, kid, too easy to trip, much to eay to fall." Oh, I like that.

thank you.

Yes, the ending does grab you on this one, although I would eliminate the "kid", the poem sounds like two young lovers and one calling the other "kid" doesn't seem to apply and actually detracts from the vision of "not" walking backwards.

ummm...i l ike it. a lot.
