Commentary:
I thought I could do it.
I thought I was strong.
Come to find out,
I thought wrong.
~
I can't do this anymore.
I can't fight lone.
When what I'm fighting for
is already gone.
~
They say love is worth it.
The struggles and the strife.
But I've battled long & all I want
is happiness from life.
~
For years I couldn't imagine
my life without you.
Then I realized,
it's not about you.
~
It's about me....
what I want & what I deserve.
You live the straight line;
I thrive on curves.
~
It's over now.
We're finally through.
And I'm here standing...
smiling even without you.

Phenom, I really like that last verse--it says so much in so few words...you led the reader through all the arguments with self, etc...to bring it to its denoument--your acceptance of yourself and the situation... well said! JFC

Phenom, it's good to see your poetry again. I havn't visited for quite awhile...i enjoyed this, very lyrical.
