Poem Number 23040
"Plum," she says, round lips kissing out the word
like a grandmother kissing the peach-skin cheek of a newborn
"unpack the picnic," she says, the letter P
monogrammed into the linens, onto each starched napkin.
"Fresh bread from the bakers," she says, her long hair
playing over her eyes in the wind, shining in the sun.
black eyes shining like her plums
"I have a knife." She hands it to me. Cut me segments, she says, unsaid.
Commentary:
" cut me segments" ....is English not her first language or since it is unsaid
perhaps her English is fine and English is not your strong suit....
I figure this is a bit of prose and as such it's not bad but poetry it is not IMHO
-------
what, is "cut me segments" French or something?

I love this poem. So, it just goes to show you. Each of us reacts in different ways to a poem.I just love this poem. Sexy. My GOd. "Plum". I can just see her lips as he says the "P". A simple poem. That's the best kind.
OH, my gosh. She's so beautiful and the moment is enough to make my skin tingle. The frsh bread, the long hair, the wind, the sun, the eyes and the plums. most of all the plums. The poem is a painting. "Cut me segments". That's what it's all about. The poet finding and using unique new words. Who doesn't understand "cut me segments"? And then to say, that is is unspoken. That is the epitome. Poet, I'm in love you, man or woman. Thank you for such a lovely poem.

great. i've ruined it, then.

You're talking way over my head. What is an acrostic? And why is the poem ruined, if it is an acrostic? i looked the owrd up in my dictionary, acrostic that is. The word is "Plum". But what's the point? Is there a point? Why bother? I still like the poem.
sg
-------
just because i started with an acrostic doesn't mean that it can't change into something else, þ. i like your additions.
sg, are you having an existential crisis? do you mind leaving me out of it?
