THE PAIN
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can see the pain in your eyes
The resolve in your labored breath
You have made peace with the inevitable
Morphine your parachute, slowly you float , to your death
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This journey in life a long road
Every step a reminder of your pain
You never deserved this retched disease
But throughout you held your head up without shame
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Never would I have the strength
To carry on so long and hard
but now I am relieved
the pain is gone
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Commentary:
There are so many people on Hospice care throughout the United States. There is so much pain, so much family unity, I wish the best for everyone going threw this tramatic time in there life and death.

We all have to face death sometime. Isn't it part of the battle to face it with as much courage as we can? Do the best we can? I like the above poem. It speaks from the heart.

This is beautiful, but it implies there is a right way to do this. It almost sounds good though, a really sweet insight. I wish I had written this. ~Cooker
-------
Cooker, I think your comment about "a right way to do this" is excellent. But isn't it nobler to do it the best a person can? Than to sniffle and make hell around oneself? Volumes have been written about dying bravely from war to cancer. And I agree with you. There's no pretty way to die. Still, I think a person has to do the best they can. And that's what I read this poem to say. Cooker, if you are a poet, and I don't know cause I've never seen your work, if you are, why not write a poem about someone who dies badly?
