Poem Number 22916
Transients

Columbus found America
He passed on to the other world
a transient on seas and Earth
Immigrants came, lived, died, moved on
Their kids toiled, now six-foot under
Edison came, lit up our planet
died, leaving behind a bright globe
So with brothers, Wright, Ford 'n so forth
Our turn will come to depart all this
amounting to a modest legacy
of children who may remember
the good mom and dad did for them
the many light bulbs they replaced
How dad revived the old family Ford
All the airplane trips they all took
