Poem Number 22915
dreams
melodies
waking before dawn
Intermission before sunrise.

Commentary:
the room is
lit with the stars,
shining silently outside

i am waiting asleep
for you, waiting
to sleep beside you

i sleep lightly
and i hear you
enter the room

with my eyes shut
i can hear you
undress

and then
you are beside me
at last

your soft flesh
is cold so i
thread my legs with yours

you snake an arm around me
brushing against my breasts
holding me close to you

you are warm with me now
my love, and soon you are asleep
but i lie there, half-awake

with my eyes shut
dreaming of the gentle touch
of your fingers

wishing you were here,
now, intertwined
with me -- though

i will not
have to wait
very long
