Poem Number 22837
`
in the gap. (for others)

Commentary:
i asked to stand
in the gap for you.

i asked to sweat and burn
and fear,
to see the arrows
from the bow to my chest,
me to my knees,
scales and disease
on my face
for your sins. your arrogance. your deliberate race to nothing.

while i am poked and plucked
and stirred by demons with your name
blazed on their forheads
my angels run
to you,
flee to you in grace,
lifting and pushing
you towards peace,

for a moment,
i can take them,
for you. for peace.

You have got to be kidding me, this is so good. You use very appropriate line length and each one trickles to the next. I really don't know how you come up with such exciting material. Definitely a keeper for our book! -JB
