Poem Number 22562
pieces of what could have been

Commentary:
I walked out of the building
where the ceremony had been
sun light
stole my
eye sight
everything was a blotched off yellow
light intensified
the edges became frayed
suddenly I lost my will to understand the contrast of black and white
naturally I became comfortably afraid
~
gravel jostling around in my shoe
mixed with a lost opportunity with you
I was lost in a crowd
people became frantic waves
the waves took me under
and a salted taste was left in my mouth
bittersweet leaning more towards the bitter
I forfeited my chance
I surrendered my turn
...I should have stayed
~
slowly crumbling into focus
~
I rubbed my eyes
and all I could see
was a plate that read "thirty three"
Key.
Ignition.
my adams apple slunked
from a sucker punch of apparition
I looked for you in my rearview
but you were no where to be found
I even played the catch up game
but alas...you never came
