Poem Number 22396
Apple Frogs a waitin'
Vietnamese sausage and broiled monkey tail
Amateur ass hilt
A vaudevillian dancer in a ragged assed kilt
An old vaudevillian cold bored taciturn vaude villain.
Was pounding his potions in stock full of mik.
When silkily sliding invideously gliding before him the princess the peach she swayed to the crowd that gathered beneath.
"Containing tinctures of Wolf Oil and Opium Ladies & Gentlemen I tell you in truth!!!" Was the truth that that you told to the babes and the rubes,
"Wolf Oil & Opium, such a boon to a man, Invigoratetatatates and revitalizezezez, titilatetatatates and tantalizezezez all the parts that makes a man a man!"
But if the truth were truly told and I will make so bold as tell the truth this once for you.
That all the bottles sold to gadgies young and old and all invigoratings were by the princess titilating, not the vaudalchemimillican trickster at the back.
Singing Wolf Oil and Opium and Broiled Monkey Tails...
Commentary:
Apple Frogs a waitin'
they're green with purple spots.
Sittin' on a log
tying their legs in knots
for the Apple Frogs are limber
and O, so very shy
easily bored, easily ignored
everyone passes them by.
Watch those Apple Frogs, Brigadine,
you'll learn a thing or two.
Those awful limber Apple Frog legs
make a mighty fine Apple Frog stew.

Kristina I must apologize for adding a chunk of nonsense in front of your poem. I have been away from the site for too long and was keen to write something. But I dove in and put down a whole load of stuff. After which I read your piece. It is truly lovely, with a delightfully eerie sense of darkness. The repetition at the end turns the whole into a song (of far higher quality than Wolf Oil and Opium!) and I could certainley see myself playing my bodrahn and singing it!
Line nine, the name "Brigadine" Possibly the most evocative name I've ever heard, or at least it is when surrounded by the rest of your words.
"Watch those Apple Frogs, Brigadine, you'll learn a thing or two"
Thank you for really sending shivers (all kinds of 'em!) down my spine
Alan
