Poem Number 19341
at my table sat two men
only one of them a friend
the other was the devil true
reminding me to think of you
the way your dry hand moistened mine
with tears from eyes that do not shine
with light from life or from hells fires
and i said "devil, shut your mouth"
just like you said to me
before you went south
and my friend smiled
told me, "calm down child"

Commentary:
Familiar. I have dined with some 'devils'. Lowell
